Role Objective:

At Bravado Designs, our purpose is to inspire every new Mom to breastfeed and help support her to succeed in her breastfeeding journey.

The Product Manager is a key member of the Design Department, and is accountable for achieving sales, gross margin, and profit goals through the selection and pricing of the product assortment. This is accomplished through product research, assortment analysis, sales analysis, and historic data. The Product Manager has an excellent business acumen combined with a great design aesthetic, and demonstrates strong retail math skills, and a thorough understanding of the apparel product development industry.

The individual in this position has a solid understanding of the Bravado Mom around the globe, and aids in the development of a global assortment of products and accessories that resonate with her. They understand the financial parameters and applications needed to drive results in a fashion business.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT
    • Accountable for:
  • Taking ownership of merchandising responsibilities for the entire product portfolio
  • Creating, distributing, and updating seasonal colour-ups to reflect and communicate assortment and changes
  • Organizing and maintaining Bravado’s competitive sample library
  • Participating in or leading departmental and cross-departmental meetings as appropriate

 

  1. ASSORTMENT PLANNING
  • Accountable for:
    • Driving strategic assortment decisions to maximize global sales including, but not limited to: identifying new trends and recognizing opportunities to extend the brand footprint
    • Gathering sales results and hindsight observations from past seasons for the purpose of global assortment planning
    • Understanding and bringing attention to channel and region-specific selling nuances within the assortment
    • Providing colour and style-level insights as to what is working and not working within the assortment
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to maximize business opportunities through key assortment strategies

 

  1. FINANCIAL & SALES ANALYSIS
  • Accountable for:
    • Utilizing current and historic sales data in order to identify opportunities to increase sales and improve margins
    • Achieving internal margin and costing goals, in collaboration with Sourcing, Production, and Design
  • Ranking of product on a regular basis, based on sales performance with a clear course of action and point-of-view
  1. PRODUCT RESEARCH
  • Accountable for:
    • Identifying key items, trends, and opportunities that will drive the business
    • Following blogs, predictives and all sources of information in relevant categories to better understand the Bravado Mom
    • Travel to key accounts to connect with customers and Moms, with the goal of understanding what is important to the Bravado Mom
    • Gathering competitor intelligence, and analyzing Bravado’s competition to identify gaps in our assortment
    • Fact gathering and collaborating with Testwear Moms, Lactation Consultants, and Bra Fitters to ensure product is right

 

  1. LINE DEVELOPMENT
  • Accountable for:
    • Mastering, leading, and taking ownership of the end-to-end Stage Gate Process at Bravado
    • Executing patent work with Design
    • Provide recommendations and insights for concepts to guide Design, Technical Design, Sourcing, and Production
    • Attending fit sessions with the intent to gain Mom feedback, and ensure prototypes reflect design intent
    • Present seasonal product “stories” to Marketing and Sales teams, and key accounts (when appropriate) 
    • Be accountable to ensure milestone deadlines are met

Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of your employment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Degree or equivalent in Fashion Design or Business Management
  • 6-10 years of experience in a progressive national multi-channel apparel retailer or wholesaler in a related position (merchandising, buying, planning, category/brand management)
  • Experience tracking historical sales data and forecasting sales
  • Proven track record for delivering successful product to market and driving sales
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including creating pivot tables), Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Highly proficient in retail math

  • Effective time management, planning, and execution skills
  • Proven skill-set as a strategic thinker with the ability to plan and execute and achieve results
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, and follow up
  • Knowledge of the intimate or maternity apparel industry is a preferred
  • Great understanding of garment manufacturing and apparel product development

 

Travel & Logistics Requirements:

  • Must work out of the Bravado Toronto office
  • Core office hours are Monday-Friday
  • Bravado Designs is fragrance-free environment
  • Must be available to travel globally (approx. 2x/year within North America and internationally)
  • Valid passport and driver’s license
